Many of us have heard the A.C.T.S. acronym for praying, which stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. It is a terrific pattern for prayer that reminds us to focus on all aspects of prayer to help us grow in our prayer life.
Another acronym is P.A.R.T. It stands for Praise, Admit, Request, and Thank, and comes from the Becky Tribassi prayer notebook. For some, this acronym which uses more common terms, is easier to remember. Also notice that it reverses the last two items so that your requests come before your thanks.
Thankfully, most of us thank while we are requesting and praise while we are thanking, etc. so we can look to these more as a tool to help us remember why we are on our knees.
God is not a shopping mall, nor is He the father who tosses us the keys whenever we want them. Rather He is the Holy God of whom we serve and trust and whether we are A.C.T.S.-ing or doing our P.A.R.T. Let us endeavor to be faithful to Him, as He certaintly is faithful to us!
